This book is fantastic. Austin is an endearingly sweet arrogant ass. Peter is an endearingly sweet 20 year old man who broke my heart. There were moments in this book where I wasn't sure I wanted to continue. Human trafficking and child abuse are triggers for me, and this book is full of both. I am so glad I finished though. There's a great progression for the relationship, and Austin figuring out who he is. His initial responses to Peter seem out of nowhere until you learn his backstory and recent emotional triggers. Peter has a ton of baggage, and it leaks out to Austin and us slowly. He lies repeatedly and is very protective of his family.

The secondary characters were also well-developed. I'm looking forward to reading more about Cai and Darryl.

The book is over the top at times. The emotional highs and lows balanced out with the number of eye roll moments though.
