Jeffrey's death occurred a year before the start, and yet his lover's grief is still so new. The weekend with the collector has the potential to be cold and do even more emotional damage. He agrees, because the portrait has so much meaning for him. It's hard to offer more without spoiling this for readers. It's gritty and sexy. Vanessa writes hotter than hell sex scenes, so buyer be ware: this may burn up your ereader! Also of note, this isn't written as a HEA. I found the ending incredibly satisfying for the story, but it's not for everyone if you're always looking for the "together forever" kind of wrap-up.
